My very first Halloween mask was a flimsy, felt-like, Frankenstein. It was apple-green and complete with protruding veins and neck bolts. I loved that mask so much that I wore it everywhere, any day. The only hitch—I couldn’t let anyone else wear it; otherwise I would get so freaked out that I’d forget who was wearing it.

But it was ok on my face. This is an ode to that wondrous, mixed, childhood feeling that only Halloween can bring: joy & fright.
